the 2" wide bubble trap will eliminate all micro bubbles without any problems, it will flow weaker than the typical 1" baffles allowing more time for the bubbles to dissipate.

I am a beginner as well.... only about 4-5 months ahead of where you are. No, I did not have microbubble problems..... because of the sump or skimmer. I did initially because the overflows were carrying so many bubbles that they were getting through my bubble traps. I added a splash box 'catching' my overflow lines and immediately eliminated the bubble problem.

For my splash box, I just went to WalMart on bought a 15" inch tall arcylic spagetti holder, drilled holes in it, and filled it with LR. Solve the problem instantly.

BTW -- Your construction is GREAT.... and my baffles were too close together which contributed to my problem.

    Yours looks great.

No transfer, just post your pics of your build in the thread for the next guy or gal that comes along.

Sorry, no pics... and it is now in the back of my sump so I wouldn't get a good shot without taking stuff apart.

    Here is a link to something similar to what I bought Amazon.com: Canister - Square Acrylic - 30oz (Clear) (32 oz - 4"H x 4.25"W x 4.25"D): Kitchen & Dining

The tall one with the spagetti in it. Then I just drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom 1/3 of it and filled it with LR rubble. Nothing fancy.

I was thinking about doing a baffle wall similar to that in the skimmer are but I thought it would be to much. I was going to add bio balls, and of course the bio balls would be submerged. But you got me thinking again. It is easy to add, I just hate to take apart, it doesn't look profesional

I didn't build mine into the sump. I set mine in back with the overflow outlets behind the skimmer. You really don't see it at all. Any way, just an idea to try to help you out.
