    Ah yes, didn't see that.

Gexx: Tell your parents they need to drink better water and get them to buy a decent Ro/DI unit for under the sink, or for the ice maker :p

...man I wish reef tanks were viable when I was 14, that totally would have worked on my dad.

RO units do seem pricey, but they actually save you so much money in the long run.

#1 Think of not having to buy RO water
#2 No algae outbreaks to have to deal with because of phosphates.

Then you spend money on things trying to correct things that happen from your tap water being bad....it snowballs.

Get an RO unit...save up....its worth it!

    +1.

I will actually say that my RO/DI system is a better investment than my lighting even.

Topping off, with my 250g or so of water, I get about 4 days out of about 10 gallons in my ATO tub. I do want to increase the size of my TO tub.

steve said it all, im only 14, no job, cept for mowing lawns. so yea, 150 is quite the investment for me. but i need it and we have well water so my parents may help (well water tastes HORRIBLE incase you dont know.) since we would also use it for drinking purposes.

It depends what aquifer your well is pulling from.

Many bottled water is "only" well water.

In fact, some of the tastiest water I have ever tasted have been from pure fresh wells in more rural locations.

If you live in more of an urban area, an RO/DI filter will not only purify the water so it tastes better, but it will also be a safe guard against nasties that you don't want to drink.

My fiance used to like bottled water, now she craves the RO water from my filters, so the RO/DI filter I have had for a few years has easily paid for itself many times over. We use RO water int he drinkwell for our dogs as well, the drinkwell stays much cleaner and does not need vinegar soaking like it used to before we swapped to RO water for the dogs as well.
