Advice was taken and the thread title has been revised. I looked back on the begining of this thread, what history. I love how this thread was my first post here. I just wanted to add some advice that could help others. First, I only joined one site (3reef). I figure if I get know others on here, I would know what advice is good and what advice is not so good. There are some very bright individuals on this website. Another key to my tanks success is consistancy. I have certain things I do on certain days, and try very hard to do so. I have never missed a water change in the two plus years its been up. Lastly, the first year is the hardest, I think thats the key whether someone will be successful in this hobby.

    Thanks for the great comments.

Wow never missed a water change that is amazing.

I hope one day I can go back and look at my old thread and see a better tank.

So true about the first year being the hardest, it's like tanks have multiple personalities, one day is an algae issue another chemistry and equipment changes and dialing in of parameters.

Your efforts in consistency and patience show, you have a really beautiful tank.

Recently I've notice that when I clean my glass, as the magnet gets near the substrate, it toss's it around a bit, the result is bubbles. The work their way out at make their way to the top.

I would say they're a good thing overall. From what I understand, it means you have low oxygen zones in your sand bed and the bacteria there are converting nitrate to nitrogen gas, which lowers the demand on your chaeto, water changes, etc. in keeping nitrates under control.

I guess the only "bad" thing would be if low oxygen became no oxygen and your sand bed started getting some toxic pockets. But, I don't have any experience with that and not sure what to use as an indicator that it was happening.

Great advice. That seems to be the consensus I come out with as well.
