Picked up a 55 gallon tonight off Craigslist to use as a much larger qt tank while I treat for ich. Didn't notice till we got it home tonight, but it doesn't have a center brace on it. The glass is 1/4" thick. The lady said it held water the last time she used it several years ago....

Is it worth filling and finding out or should I try to make a brace using some acrylic I have? Its just a qt tank, so I really don't care about looks.

    My 55 doesn’t have a brace, and I haven’t had any problems.

I would make a brace from acrylic or other material and know that it won't have any issue if it had a brace to begin with.
