Here is the 55g "Hand Me Down" FOWLR the fish so far are doing very well parameters are great. I have a magnum 350 canister pump, penguin bio wheel 200, prizm protein skimmer, 2 power heads, about 35lbs of LR and a crushed coral bottom. I have a blue tang, maroon clown and a humu humu trigger. The bottom pic is the constuction process.

not a bad early Christmas present IMO
that does not look like a Maroon clown to me, it looks like a Tomato clown
That tang is going to outgrow that tank pretty quickly IME
So you might want to consider trading that out for something smaller and more suitable for the 55 in the fullness of time

providing your dad would not be hurt by that - its more difficult, I appreciate when its a gift

Looks very nice! and as said above, i would trade out that tang for either a smaller one, or a different tang that wont get as big..

But very nice, are you going to add corals? or is this going to stay FOWLR?

Thanks guys, and I eventually want to get into coral but this is my very first saltwater tank so I want to go slow and right now my finances will not allow for that . What kind of fish would you recommend for the tank because he told me the trigger is more on the aggressive side and it shows on the tang in the tail fin and other areas but they are best friends now lol. Would I be better off trading in both and go with more peaceful fish??

If you do want to go coral, then the Trigger would be a handicap IME
They will devour any shrimps you wanted to keep, can seriously pester snails trying to get them out of the shell to eat them and they tend to sample many things to see if there is anything edible in them so rocks and even corals sometimes get crunched

there are loads of reef safe fish suitable for a 55
difficult to suggest as its often personal taste
check out other tank threads on the site for 55s or smaller and you will probably get some good ideas of the type of fish being kept and may find some that appeal to you

Today my buddy needed some of my CC for his refugium and in return gave me a chunk of his LR with some pulsing xenia and tree coral they are tiny little guys now but when I added them they stayed open and were feeding when the rest of the guys got fed. Ill post a pic in the morning when the lights go back. Sorry about the SP mistakes lol.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Looks great, congradulations on getting all together.

If you go to liveaquaria.com and view their marine fish section you can get some nice ideas of fish that you may like. You need to take the minimum tank size with a grain of salt, but you can get an idea of fish that you may want in the future.
