I've always kept dwarf angels with all my clams and never once had an issue. A flame or coral beauty would do fine in that tank.

Yeah, bunch wasn't the right word to use, I meant as overall the fish in the tank are on the smaller side

It is a reef, I mean its only got a BTA as of right now, but we want to get more corals. I do really like the clam idea the more I think about it though!

I can't keep a reef without a clam. I love the color they bring to the setup. Do research before you buy and make sure you can keep the big 3 params stable at all times. It's not as simple as just buying one and putting it in the tank. I routinely dose mag, calcium and alk to keep my clams happy.

If you just buy one then you'll be disappointed when it dies. Just because you have a "reef" setup doesn't mean in any way that you can keep a clam. Sorry ballgame, I don't agree with your post. If you can keep a clam alive for a year or two then your doing good. These are very delicate creatures that need very stable environments, great lighting, and dosing. They will literally suck the calcium out of the tank. Buying a clam under 2" isn't wise for a beginner and honestly I wouldn't buy one until you get some time under your belt and get your tank stable. A clam can take months to die slowly just like a scooter or mandarin can take months to starve. Just because someone has a clam in there tank for a while doesn't mean they can sustain one long term. Just trying to give info for the long term health of these beautiful animals.
