    You give me hope, OFK.

What type of HOB skimmer are you looking at? I'm in the market for one myself.

I guess just a side note, but the rock and sand look dry instead of live unless I am missing something

Depending on what corals, 1600 GPH may not be enough! In my 55 I have (2) Koralia 750's, (2) Koralia 1050's, plus ~500 GPH from my return pump. So up to 3700 GPH when everything is on :) Fish and coral did very well with this much flow, but I do have them on wavemakers so they are not on all of the time.

I do agree that you can have a successful tank with just a HOB skimmer and HOB 'fuge. I have a 46BF that has been running for over a year with an Eshopps 100H skimmer and CPR Aquafuge (the medium sized one). I only have a couple of soft corals in it that are doing great, but it is not meant to be a reef tank. However nitrates and phosphates are both undetectable. I do have a good amount of live rock and a few types of macro algae thriving, which contribute greatly to how well the tank does IMO.

I am using a Reef Octopus 1000. I do like it but it seems to need a lot of tweaking of the placement of the cup but other than that - works great. I know sailorguy on here has one for sale I do believe.....wish he would have opted to sell before I bought mine :) There are several good HOB skimmers out there.

It is dry rock and sand. I was just trying to live in the future, lol.

I cant get on the for sale forums yet. I would probably try and buy it. I have not been a member for 30 days. :(

I guess I should give an update, :p. I have filled the tank completely and been cycling it now for 14 days. I feel like it has been a month already, but I just saw my date on my last post and realized it wasn't. lol

Well anyways I have been constantly feeding my tanks and monitoring the Ammonia and Nitrites. I keep wondering what my first additions will be. I know my inverts will be first to land in my DT and at the same time I will be getting me a couple of fish for my QT. I am so anxious.
