    Ya I do replace them once a month, but rinse them out every week. Helps keep nitrates down is all.

    if anything i would do reverse flow if your going to keep the undergravel filter its much better than just a regular undergravel filter

    The undergravel filter was removed a month ago, as stated in previous post

    The aquascape looks much better now, it looks a lot more organized. I use to run a HOB filter on my 55. I cleaned the filter pads every 2 weeks, as they developed a lot of gunk on them fairly quickly. I would replace them every month. The main reason I cleaned was that the stuff that was on them impeded the water flow.

    Well ditched the crushed coral and added 25pounds of Este's Ultimate Reef Marine Sand.
    However while in the process of cleaning my skimmer, the venturi needle wheel snapped in half.......
    I stole a needle wheel out of an old powerhead

    So i decided to upgrade my powerheads this weekend. Installed two Koralia 3's in each corner facing each other. Luckly for me the Lfs was having a customer appreciation day.
    All Supplements were on sale!!
    I got
    3 17ounce bottles of coral accel
    2 17ounce bottles of calcium vital
    1 17ounce bottle of purple tech
    1 17ounce bottle of form
    All bottles were $4.00 each.
