    hi everyone

i'm using 55w PL over my refugium now with chaeto inside, it's growing okay but i'm wondering if upgrading to 2x 24w T5HO ( with 6000k or 6500k ) bulbs is better?;D

It would be much better. PLs don't even compare to T5s. 6500s should give you tons of growth.

Yes wattage doesn't mean to much when it comes to lighting. T5s will be higher quality light with a higher PAR value and will penitrate deeper.

I used to have a pc aquarium light fixture over my fuge, I had very little grown out of my macros. I switched it out for a cheap clamp fixture at home depot. I put a energy saving 4500k bulb in and it now grows like crazy. Just my opinion and it cost me about 9 dollars. Saw major results in about 6 weeks.
