i wouldnt waste your time with PC's. i was looking for a bargain and bought a 260w set for only $119.00. I just purchased a 8 x 54w t5 refurbished fixture for only $295.00 off ebay. looking at my tank now with only the PC's on it is depressing, not very bright at all. i cant wait for the t5's to come in, my fishies will go blind

not sure , i have a nano 10g with 65watt PC , and it is brighter than a
48watt T5 but the effect on corals ? my mushrooms are good but LPS
receded a little. ? for sps my guess is more T5 light or MH light .

to answer the wuestion on hand NO can it be done yes with someone that wants corals sitting on top of the tank pretty much but not wise. go with the t5's or m/h you will be alot more happier and also depending on depht of the tank will reflect on how many bulbs for t5's or how many watts for m/h like staed before don't waste you money if you are planning to keep sps.

watts is not necessarily a reflection of lumens- which is the REAL determination of which one is better..... and its a fact that T5 provides more lumens per watt than PC's.

You would like a new light because what you have is not good for what you would like to do, so dont replace it with one that may also not be good enough.Save your money and keep looking for what you really need once you decide what that is...youll be very glad you did , Dave
