I've been researching about dwarf seahorses because my friend was going to give me theirs. I've read that if you only have one its okay to put him/her in a 5g tank.
    seahorse.org - Tankmates

I thought maybe the seahorse would get lonely and was considering getting a neon goby to go with him/her. Would having the two in the 5g tank make it too crowded? I was also gunna have some inverts like hermits and snails for cleaning.

If a 5g tank is to small then I'll go with a 10g

    replies are much appreciated ;D

I think the dwarfs are supposed to do best in groups of 3.

You don't want to put fish in with the ponies because they will out compete them for food.

if there DWARFS and not REGULAR then many people keep them in one or two gallons. if you put them in like a 20 or 30, you can lose track of them and not know where they are for feeding. when they say dwarfs, they mean it! lol these guys are small. id do 5 gallon and get multiple specimens personally.

I figured a neon goby would be okay to put in with the sea horse since its tiny and can clean the sea horse.
Is it better to keep at least two in a tank or would one be okay on its own?

they truly are a community animal the more the better. in a 5 gallon go with 4-5. they will breed and the babies may make it with no help from you. filters arent a good idea, nor are power heads to be honest. they put out to much suction. youre best idea would be to use airlines to make surface agitation. a lot of hitching places are needed also. red and green gracilaria are good. so are mangroves and chaeto. do not put any lps coral in with them. they may sting and try an eat the dwarf horses.

you may already know a lot of this, just thought id give you a heads up.
