I was thinking about purchasing a 48” 6 bulb Nova Extream Pro...what are your thoughts on this light? Would you recommend it? and would it limit to me to what I could add to my tank in the future? readdddy go! lol thanks guys still pretty new to the hobby and just want to make sure I'm spending my money wisely.

I would be getting the fixture used and at what seems to be at a fair price.

It is a good fixture. I would replace any bulbs that come with it just to be safe.

What size tank are you going to put this on? It should be fine for any coral anywhere in a tank upto 90 gallons.

OK looked at your first post you have a 55. This will be more than sufficient. I would order 1 ATI Aquablue Special, 1 ATI Purple Plus, 2 ATI Blue Plus and 2 actinic bulbs for this fixture.

Put the actinics in the dawn/dusk positions and then mix the other bulbs in the rest. Put the Purple Plus in position 3 or 4.

Thanks, do you think this light would be strong enough for clams on the sand bed??? Also do you have a suggestion to where to get the bulbs? My local pet store usually doesn't carry the highest quality of supplies.

It will work for clams in the sand since there should be light bulbs over the sand. Go to Aqua Cave and Reef Geeks. Aqua Cave probably has a little better prices especially since they have a discount code for 3reef members. Click on the forum link and they coupon codes to find it.

I have the 4 bulb fixture on my 90 with two clams (squamosa and maxima) on the sand bed. 6 bulbs is too much for a 55.IMO You can also try Fosters and Smith for bulbs. I ran the stock bulbs with this fixture for 6 months and didn't notice any ill effects.

That is why I suggested using the 2 actinics to keep his PAR down. He may get a better deal on the used fixture than a new 4 bulb fixture. If he has expansion plans then a 6 bulb unit will be good to have. Since the fixture is used no sense in taking a chance that the previous owner has had the bulbs in use longer than he says.

That would be 75, 90 and 120 gallons. Generally the 75 and 90 are 18" wide. The 75 is 21" tall and the 90 is 24". The 120 is 24" tall and 24" wide.

As always you guys have been a huge help. Thanks! Let me know if you hear about any good deals on RO/DI units....I've been looking at the big reef systems...I've been going to my local LFS to get my RO water and pre mixed salt...its getting old extreamly fast. I need to get a RO/DI unit...it would pay for its self in less then a half a year
