I can only re-emphasize that you should only keep 2 clowns .... they might even spawn. I simply don't understand how anyone could sell you that many. You MUST return them to avoid problems in the future. As others said, you might want to look for another lfs.
    Good luck with returning them!
What type of clowns are the? Any pics?

I would try talking to the owner of the store where the clowns were bought and try to arrange a store credit for the return of at least four of them.It could have been another employee that sold them to you. This way neither one of you is taking a loss and the store would be keeping a good future customer.

Of course he did, he wanted to SELL them to you. You've gotten alot of good advice here and here's a little more. Research everything before you purchase and don't fully trust someone trying to sell you things. There are good LFS that really care about the hobby but there's alot that are only concerned with the bottom dollar.

In the wild, you can see a lot of clowns hosting in one anemone. However, that is a bit more water gallonage, and in a 40g tank, you more than likely will have aggression issues.

I am going to add a couple more hobbyist raised clowns soon (I already have a pair), but my tank is 200g, and I might simply add those new clowns to a separate tank.
