Ok so I hear this weird noise behind my tank and I take a look in back and its my 6 line flopping on the floor. I have had him for almost 2 years and he never jumped before. So by the time I can get to him he is lifeless but I try and save him anyway. I put him in a a floating breeder box and moved it back and forth to get the water through his gills and he starts barely moving and breathing within 2 hours he is swimming in the breeder and appears to be ok so I release him in the tank. a few hours later I saw him hiding near a shell..probably from the trauma ..the next day I didnt see him anywhere in the tank. he has totally vanished this happened 4 days ago. So do you think he passed away and became food or is still hiding out from the trauma .:-/:-/:confused:

Could be either at this point. Unfortunately, it's really a "wait and see" situation at this point. If you don't see the fish within a couple weeks, then I'd chalk it off as a loss. Best of luck.

If I had to guess though, I'd say just hiding right now.

^ yuuuup, could be either, stressed and hiding or dead and gone.Wrasse' can hide for extended periods of time.So i'd give him a couple more days before writing him off.Did you check around the tank to verify it didn't jump again?Do you have cats?

I am thinking about using eggcrate but I was worried about the shadow it may create. Funny thing is there is only about a 2 inch opening due to the light fixture..but he must of timed it out just right:cry:

Hopefully hiding but if he is gone based on your avatar you seem to know alot about wrasses can you reccommend a new wrasse..perhaps a fairy? :-/

No, you really need to use 1/4" mesh. Eggcrate will block a lot of light, and unless your sixline is huge, it'll go right through. If the head fits, the fish fits.

That 2" opening isn't a matter of the fish's timing, it's a matter of calendar timing. Give it enough time, and the fish WILL exit through any gaps in which it fits.

Possibly; depends on tank size and other tankmates. And ultimately, until your tank is covered with 1/4" mesh, any wrasse is on borrowed time.
