Yesterday I got a 6 line, a yellow watchman Goby, and a long finned green chromis for a 20H tank. They seemed to get along ok yesterday and eat both some dry food and frozen brine shrimp. This morning the chromis was almost floating on top and it's fins shredded and I had to take it out. The goby is ok.If the 6 line did this is there any other fish I could put in the tank that could hold it's own with him. Would like to add another fish for a better look for the tank. Thanks.

Wrasses can be mean, but in my experience, chromises are much more likely to be aggresive than wrasses. Something seems a little weird here. Are there any other possible culprits (inverts)? However, any fish that feels as though it has had it's territory invaded will be aggresive. Maybe it was simply the personalit of the wrasse and chromis. If you need another fish an like the look of the chromis, maybe try another one. I don't think there is any specific wrning against mixing them. I've had them coexist for some time (all be it in a larger tank). Good luck,

How many fish do you have in your tank. A 20g tank is small and fish can get very aggressive and territorial when confined to a small tank with other fish.

In a little 20g anything can happen with more than a couple fish. My guess is the Chromis got belligerent, and the Wrasse took him to town. Most Wrasse are not easily intimidated, even the otherwise peaceful ones.
