Thats a LOT of light for a 35g tank. I mean, it's still not at the levels of natural sunlight... but wow.

Any thought of upograding to a bigger tank in the 55-65g range?

Sonds interesting. But yeah lots of light... Not too much of a bad thing but how long do you keep them on? I would be concerned about bleaching and overheating.

There is times in the shallows in Hawa'ii that get blasted with 1000+uMols/m2/sec but they don't get that all the time, plus thats the shallows not 5-30 yds down where many corals grow.

I would rock some SPS in that tank.... Or grow softies like weeds!!

There's a big difference between Odyssea bulbs and ballast and Quality bulbs:
    http://www.3reef.com/forums/reef-lighting/icecap-blue-life-vs-odyssea-61218.html
A 250 W Odyssea stock is probably the equivalent of a 150-175W quality setup. Just burning and wasting more electricity.
I still think that's too much for that size tank. Some fish will hide/stress from the light if it's too much. I used to have 175W Odyssea X2 stock bulbs in my 180 and most corals did fine with that.
Oh yeah, welcome to the reef!

You could probably put about anything in there with that light. Keep in mind some things like Chalice would probably be overwhelmed with too much light. And other low light corals... you may have a hard time finding a place to put them.( and still be able to enjoy seeing them).

Wow, I forgot I posted this and just got back to it! After reading this a month ago I decided I needed to lower the time I left all my lights on. This HELPED drastically. Everything is growing a lot faster and has all of the color back so thanks for the input. I currently have kenya tree, xenia, flower pot, candy cane coral (i think two different kinds), dragon eye zoas, and another that I don't have an ID on. I leave all of my lights on max 5 hours a day and then leave just the side lights on another 4 hours or so. Lets see now my fish I have a sailfin tang, two clowns, a manderin psychadelic, and a yellow watchman goby. Inverts I have a cleaner shrimp and lots of snails and hermits. I also got a koralia 2 recently which I love and so do my fish. I have thought of upgrading but when I do I want to upgrade to between a 75 and 125 figure if I do it I should go big. Iv been looking on craigslist and have had some luck with finding great full setups but hesitant about making the change since I may be moving soon. Let me go take a picture and Ill update this post. Thanks for all the responses! O and my tank is almost a year now, only 2 more months Yay!
