Love the sun coral. I have one that has beautiful poly extension. Is yours showing signs of strong polyp extension under that ledge?

Even though they require little light, they still require mod flow, and people often reduce their flow down to nearly none by putting them under ledges etc.

I feed mine with a mix of brine/mysis/rotifers/cyclops/lobster eggs with reef roids and marine snow. To feed it I place a see through plastic cup over the top that has a cut hole in the top enough for the end of a syringe and blast it with a shot of mix every night. Now I can already see new heads forming and its growing like a champ :)

What are your experiences keeping it?

wow, feed it everyday?? Mine is pretty small and hasn't been looking very good (little polyp extension). I've only been feeding about once a week so I think I will increase that :) The op's tank is incredibly gorgeous! I'm jealous!

I completely agree. Its an amazing nano tank. In my opinion harder to make brilliant than bigger tanks.

Yes, in relation to my sun coral, I feed it every day and it shows maximum polyp extension. It is also trained to feed, and comes out at about 2-3pm every day waiting for its food :), stays out during the night, is slightly smaller in the morning, before returning to its full form :).

I am actually keeping mine under the lighting now. For whatever reason it never seemed to extend polyps as much when completely shaded; could be the flow issue. Anyways, mine is trained as well and extends polyps everyday around 6:30PM (when I normally feed). Started with just one head, with new heads forming now :) I try to feed everyday, if not every other.

Any tricks to feeding it or getting it to extend polyps? I've been putting a glass with food in the top of it and let the food kind of surround it in the evening during usually my second of three feedings I give the fish. Advice? Sorry to the op, I didn't intend to hi-jack.

I use a plastic cup that I place over it. The plastic cup has a hole in the top that is big enough for the end of a syringe. I suck my food mix in the syringe and squirt it inside the cup.

As mentioned, mine is now trained to come up around 6:30PM, however it also responds as soon as food enters the tank as well. It seems to respond faster when I use garlic or selcon as well. Mine has no problems grabbing hold of food either, so no need for any kind of cover. I just try to keep the shrimp away for a minute or so until it can consume the food.
