    getting closer finally lol, im going sunday to get my live rock from aquarium adventures im picking up fourty pounds, then all i have left to do is finish my tank stand.

    Congrats. Looks like the project is coming right along. I just got wind of your thread, but after reading it through, I wish you the best of luck. I too just acquired a new tank (first foreshadow to a new build :curtain: ) and I knew the previous owner had a major downfall in the health of the tank. Nuisance algae was all over the place, so I decided for the sake of a fresh start, to first bleach the tank, then scrape and reseal the silicone inside. I've since rinsed several times and even filled for a stress test. But if your buddy didn't use any copper medications, and it was just fresh you should be fine without the overkill. Be sure and ask him if he used any medications though. Copper left over in a system can be deadly as I'm sure you know. Can't wait for more pics, best of luck.

    thanks, i'm looking forward to getting the tank up and running, i'm just going to take my time and make sure it gets done right, cant wait to see pics of your build

    well today i got my light , pumps, and protein skimmer tomorrow i'm going to get my live rock. i should have the tank stand done by this coming weekend, i'm finally getting closer

    Got my live rock yestarday, i got 25lbs for 80 bucks lol they had a 65% off sale going on. so now all i have left to do is get the tank stand done and order the sand wich im going to order when i get ready to put it all together

    Got the tank stand done, next im cleaning the tank and painting the back glass.

    Stand is looking great. I would just use plain vinegar to clean the tank with.

    +1 on the vinegar... white vinegar will break down any mineral deposits
