    I'm thinking so or I might of had to much plugged into it I've had at least one tank for 18 years and never had this problem so I'm not sure yet

    Sorry to come off harse if I did,
    I'm glad no one injured and your house didn't burn up.
    If you haven't, check with a local reefing group, and/or CraigsList for some good stuff at low cost, etc.
    We hope to see your new system up and running soon.

    k will do I had renters insurance thank god so I will be able to hopefully get my stuff replaced. I will defiantly research the plug in stuff before I set another one up that's one thing I guess I just never though of. what do most people use for wall out let's/ power strips?

    Power strips and surge protectors are not the answer as you unfortunately experienced. A quality gfci is.

    It stands for ground fault circuit interrupter. You can find one at any hardware or home improvement store.

    You can also get adaptors if you can't or don't feel comfortable changing the electrical.

    Here is a question, do you still use a powerbar plugged into the gfci?

    I know a lot of people that just use a power strip so hopefully my mis hap prevents problems for other people. p.s. the insurance company thought I was joking when I told them how much the tank was worth
