I have been looking around and I really would like a tang. So I believe I want to only have 5-6 fish, and a couple of shrimp.

Cycling can take as long as 12 weeks, I dont understand how your tank has cycled in one month? Luna

Well Luna I know that a tank can have several cycles but my tank has spiked ammonia, nitrite, and produced a pot full of nitrates(arr this can be irritating). I started my tank with Live rock (premium fiji, and base). I can't explain anything else. I am no expert but I am sure my tank has cycled. I know I have the algea stages to go through but my diatom bloom has been going now for over a week.

Mine cycled in a month also. I had a bunch of LR and LS that helped that along. The bacteria were pretty much already present.....not enough to handle a large bio-load but there nontheless. I always had ammonia at 0.25 with a small short spike to 0.5 and my nitrites never showed. The only reason I knew I had the bacteria is that nitrates were being produced. It was strange.

Mine also cycled in a month.

When you add fish don't do it too quickly. Each addition will cause another cycle so do it slowly!

Yes they do. Sometimes you can get away with a dwarf angel like a coral beauty or a flame angel. But even they can turn to the dark side and snack on your expensive friends. Mine was a good girl for a month but here recently (in the last two weeks) she has started tasting that which shouldn't be tasted. She may have to go back to the LFS. Bummer, I love that fish.
