Yikes those biobags sound like nitrate traps!!! Do yourself a favor, go get some PVC and make a durso drain pipe, it'll make your overflow almost silent and save you the hassle of all those bioballs!
    Durso Standpipes

    It's really cheap and simple!

I think a video sounds great. I always appreciate when I can see things in action. I'll have to check out you build thread to see where you're at. A 300 gallon tank sounds spectacular and I must say a bit intimidating.

    Oh, and I'm a girl :)

It's not about being smart :) the name does sound like a dude - it wasn't intentional.

Congrats OFK! That's awesome! I will be following along. I'm hoping to have my other tank build up by the end of August but like you said, we all know how that goes.

I know you mentioned drilled tank. Is this tank ore drilled, are you going to have it drilled?
    From experience, drill, drill, drill.
Hob overflow boxes and u tubes are a pita. I have had mine up for over a year and just recently got it dialed in, but it still requires tweaking every now and then.
Other than that it seems that you've got a good plan going and some good help. I'm happy for you. Congrats.

Your plans sound great OFK,using a sump only sounds complicated,I'm sure you will really like it as soon as it's running.Another thing you will absolutely love is the look of your new tank with no HOB stuff. One other thing to think about is using a ATO.I know others have said this and I now know why,I use a Tunze ATO on my setup and absolutely love it.

you know when I look at the functioning of the sump, I now can totally see the value and convenience of an ATO. I can't wait to see the benefits to the tank and inhabitants having a little more room, more water volume, and hopefully solid parameters.

Thank you diver! It's about time huh? ;) The tank came pre-drilled which I figured was my best bet and my friend said to get a pre-drilled tank. I'm excited albeit a little nervous.

It really makes things much easier(ATO).When using a sump, all evaporation shows in the return pump section only so the water level in that section can drop quickly. With the ATO I can just refill my reservoir(oceanic salt jug)about every 4-5 days and all is good.If I were to have plans to be away longer than that I could easily use a larger reservoir such as a 5gallon bucket.Since you have a friend building your cabinet it would be good to plan for enough room for everything you would like it to house. You may find that a cabinet larger than your tank footprint would be needed.
