Keep in mind, the Blood red hawkfish will pick at crustaceans. Also, be selective when choosing your CUC with this fish in the line up.

Hi thought I'd chime in since I own several of these fish you are thinking about getting

Bare in mind I am no expert by any means in fact I'm only going on 1 years experience lol

I have had a blood red hawkish for almost a year now he was close to one of the first fish I placed in the tank after it cycled, I went through a pretty bad ich epidemic that wiped out my whole population with the exception of him so they are very hardy and I have never seen him go after any of my CUC

The coral banded shrimp has been in there almost as long as the hawkish and he is one the most awesome critters I have in the tank, he doesn't go after any of the fish although he will occasionally bully the snowflake eel lol other than that he just roams about picking on the rocks and lounging around

Now the snowflake eel, when I first got him I thought he was the coolest thing ever, he would swim around, he was the center of conversation when company came over, he was between 8 and 10" when I got him, he is now about 15-18" in length.

I have had a couple deaths in the tank (not by the mouth of the eel btw) and all I have now is the eel, hawkfish, flame angel and fuzzy dwarf lionfish. I have attempted to add some new fish but the eel won't let them last a day and I have tried large fish as well, I had put a new yellow tang in it was about 6" it was in the tank swimming around for about an hour then I saw the eel latch onto it and start spinning around wrapping it up like it usually does with its food before I knew it the tang was ripped to shreds, very sad, I could be on the bad luck side of eels I don't know but if you do get one be sure it's the very last thing you put in the tank and if you have any deaths after and want to add something new...good luck ;)

Anyways just thought I would share my experiences with those fish :)

Tanks! See what I... Yeah anyway thanks, I knew that the eel would get aggressive when older and not to add anything after him at that size so I'm good there.
