I'm just learning about lights, so please bear with me.. LOL

I hace PC's 4x65 watts. 48 inch 2 white and 2 blue.. 55 gal tank.. No Problems, all is growing good..
Lights are around 7 months old, and I know I'll need to replace soon..
Will 96 watt pc bulbs work in these and put out 96 watts..??
    They are inline 4 pin..

Or do I have to use 65 watt bulbs.. Not going to change ballist ( sp ), etc..

I saw some bulbs with the reflective material inside on the top half of the bulb, seems these would be better..??
I can't upgrade anything but the bulbs at this date.. I just need some help and maybe a link.. To the best bulbs I can get for this set-up..

My tank was built around these lights, corals.. all low to mod. light...
    Thanks for any Info, Larry

You will need to stick with the 65W bulbs. Putting the 96W bulbs will fry your ballast in a hurry, and a good chance at catching on fire. CF bulbs should last 12-14 months if they are good quality ones.
The lights with built in reflectors are generally T5 bulbs, which are incompatible with your current lighting system.
Buying 4 quality 65W bulbs will run you close to $100. I'm not sure how 260W of CF compares to 108W of T5, but here is a cheap T5 setup:
48 inch Current USA Nova Extreme 2x54 watt T5 HO 10K/460nm
And another that is a bit more:
48 inch Current USA Nova Extreme 4x54W T5HO

As tigermike said, it's not the bulbs but the ballast you need to worry about. Unless you want to upgrade that, you will need to stick with the 65w. bulbs.

What if I stick with what I have, But add the
48 inch Current USA Nova Extreme 2x54 watt T5 HO 10K/460nm

    Which isn't a bad price..

All that should be all the light I need.. 368 watts total.. With what I have Leathers, mushrooms, candycane, plate coral, hammer, Birdsnest.. And misc..
And even tho the Plate is on the bottom, it's doing really good..
I know the ones that need more light and they are up high.. And what I have works OK..

The T5's may help bring out more color.. I don't plan on getting any Real high light corals.. Not in this tank..
    Maybe my next one..
    Thanks, for the help, Larry

So what about the T5 HO's as an add on..??

i used to run pc's and T5's on the same tank. Once you put them on you are quickly going to realize that you want all T5's. It will make the PC's look like garabage. then I saw my friends tank with halides and had to get those. This all happened in 2 weeks. You're going to like the T5's way more, if not, that's my personal opinion. Either way, more light is better!
