Ok so I'm gonna be setting up my 65g and using my old lights. I have a 36 wavepoint t5ho and I'm wondering if it'll be enough light. My tank demensions are 39"Lx22Hx18W (I think that's them, I may be off on the width) and I've been doing some calculations. If I use my current light fixture it'll give me roughly 2.5 watts a gallon. While I know I won't be keeping sps corals low, just wondering if it'll still be good enough. Ill be transfering everything from current tank, which includes a derasa that will be on the sand bed, and getting a new light will be out of question for some time. Any thoughts on how well this fixture will do or am I sol?

It should be fine. BTW watts per gallon mean little to nothing with T5HO fixtures. You may need to move the fixture a little more to the front depending on how deep you make the rocks.

Wow didn't know that about t5s, thanks 2in 10. I am going to change the bulbs when I feel like spending the extra 100 bucks. Can't decide if I should buy lights or ro/di filter next. Thanks though for clearing that up for me.

RO/DI first unless your bulbs are 6 to 9 months old.

They have specials and they change fairly often.
