Not sure why no one mentioned it but that mandarin will most likely starve to death in a 2month old system. I got a tank that is going on a year old with no pod eaters that was infested and i thought i could sustain a mandarin. He has ate every single copepod in my tank. And he is still amazingly skinny. I have a total of 90 gallons and a fuge full of pods, but not enough make it to the display to keep him healthy. I have to resort to taking cupfulls of water from my sump daily and pouring them in the display and rotating rocks from my sump to my display. You have to have ALOT of live rock in an extremely well established system to keep them alive without the weekly addition of live pods, which are very expensive. My mandarin is going on 4 months old. Most don't make it past the 6 month mark. Your best bet is to return him, or try to get him eating frozen foods, which has proven to be impossible with my mandarin. I'm not trying to grill you, just an FYI from one reefer to another.

What ever happened to that volcano deal? Ever complete it? It would be easier to use eggcrate instead of PVC

actually he seems to be doing fine and yes i added pods but i added 10k pods when my tank was roughly about 2 months old and waited , i did not add any fish or have fish at the time until 3 or 4 months but by the time i added fish my tank was full of pods, fuge and display copepod, isos, and etc
been good every since . i also add pods frm my sump to my dt every week and in my display i have 2 rubble piles
he seems to be a lil fatty idk about 6 months left or giving him back just because u say i should , if and when he looks hungry i will hatch brine and he loves to go to town on those idk man if in six months he looks bad then ill give you that ...and about reef mountain ...hahaha its still in process lol i think ill try adding some egg crate to the build that might just help it along

Keep us posted on the mandarin, sounds like you've added enough pods for sure.

On that mountain...I was thinking of doing something similar only with eggcrate. I have been reading a lot of diy backgrounds using foam and that might be the key to your project. Keep posting pics of your progress.

nice tank and aqua scape. lots of caves etc. i prefer this to the wall look.

would this wrasse eat shrimp. i was thinking about getting one but was hesitant because i would like to keep shrimp sometime soon.
