I'm new to the hobby, but even I know you don't seems to understand what everyone is saying. They don't care about comparing one LED system to another. They are trying to simply state that PAR readings at upper mid and lower depths will show how well your light system is putting lumens into the water. And, ahh, LEDs don't create a new type of lumen that slinks past water molecules faster. Light is light, and it all passes through the water the same way, whether from a t5 metal halide, the sun, doesn't matter:

speed of light in water= speed of light in air/refractive index of water
    =300000000/1.3330
    =225056264.1 m/sec

I'm currently shopping the market for a programmable LED system and I know I want more than .2 watts per LED, I want Cree bulbs at 3 watts that I can tune to the levels my tank and corals and fish are happy with.

I would have to beg to differ when you say I don't understand what people are saying. You should read all of what I wrote but if there is something that you think I left out (I do a lot of) or something that you don't understand, I will be more then happy for you to test my knowledge. Again, I put a lot of time into understanding light and what type of light I need for "my use". Cree bulbs are the best out there and you pay for that research that they develop into that technology. About the 0.2W LED light, I am testing a theory of mine and you are more then welcome to follow it. I am a science major in my college, this is what I live for (learning).

I do believe that this thread is getting off topic but, if you have any questions, feel free to write me or we could discuss on another thread.

    Thanks for reading. :)

I know the pump is set at one constant speed. But centrifugal pumps can be restricted with a valve on the output and it WILL NOT damage the pump. Contrary to what you would think, by restricting the flow it will actually make the motor draw LESS power even though it is still running at the same RPM. You would be better off just putting a valve on the return line and doing away with the tee and valve going back to the sump. All centrifugal pumps function this way.

Thanks for commenting back on this issue. I looked more into this (more then what I did before) and I just keep finding articles on both sides of this situation and I find it very intriguing. I did happen to find one particle article that seem to speak my language, science, to sway me more to what you are talking about. Either way, I need that extra tee with ball valve to do my water changes and anything else that I happen to find a use for when it is needed. Thanks again for leading me to the other side of articles I didn't know about because what you say makes sense. Thanks ;D

Ordered some more plumbing from BRS and I should receive it on Wednesday. If the shipping works out that way, I will post my finished plumbing on the thread and show it off. I will explain why I made it the way I did. I did learn a few things and will update my intentions on some of my plumbing and give credit where it is due for opening my eyes. :)

    Tasks to complete:
    (1) Finish plumbing! .... almost check lol.

Questions about BRS MarinePure Media Plate

Does anyone on this forum own a MarinePure Ceramic media plate from BRS? I was thinking of going this route when I need to prop up my SWC skimmer instead of the egg create. BRS says that it works great for filtration but I would like to hear it from some fellow reefers. If it does work great, it will not only prop up my skimmer that 1 inch but it will filter and that is way better then the other method (egg crate, only one purpose + time to build).

    Thanks guys/girls, your awesome!

These are a waste imo. All of your bio filtration will live in the live rock in your display. I wouldn't waste money on adding other bio medias to the sump. Eggcrate is fine for a skimmer platform. Thats what i use.
