Im trying to figure out the lighting setup for my new 240g. I have seen plenty of setups, such as the maristar HQI/t5 combos, however it seems this may create a heat problem. Im looking for a 3x250W HQI + 4x39w T5 retro kit. to mount in a 72X30X12" hood. I have read many post and still cannot find a solution. Anybody got any suggestions?
The lumenmax2 aso seem like a good choice for the halides, but will there still be a problem with heat build up as they are enclosed? I definately want remote balast, im thinking that these may be able to go in the basement (to prevent extra heat in the room). thanks guys.(and gals)

ok so how about another question, if a typical halide covers a 2'x2' area, what is the the coverage of a T5 HO? if a typical 6 buld betup is good for a 24" tank i guess we can assume a 6" coverage? Am i correct? some dual units have 2 bulbs in 4" though. hum

I'd go as many bulbs as you can fit
IE, if an 8bulb fixture will cover the width go for it :)
    It cant hurt

I dont think that really answered your question though. I dont think there really is any set information on how well T5s cover.
