Removed sand bed and all algae is gone! Pics tomorrow when the lights come back on. Its been 2 days since the removal and all water levels are perfect. Actually better since my alk went up to 9 from 8.

I have noticed overall better coral health after ditching the sand bed. And no algae is growing back yet, knock on wood. I have my circulation pumps set up so all detris and waste pools in one corner of the tank if it does not float up to the skimmer. This has made cleaning already much, much quicker.

Some updated pictures: will be fragging the gsp in a few weeks for the first time as its already growing pretty quickly. All opinions are appreciated, the good and what i need to think about changing!

    - Thanks, Andy

Thanks man, i plan on letting it fill in the one corner of the bottom to make a grassy looking patch. Once it really starts going i wanna train it around sections of the back wall.... maybe on the exterior of the skimmer even? bad idea?

Yeah they are finally starting to color up and grow a bit. So i am hoping for the best. Thanks!

Just a general question: will growing gsp on the exterior of my skimmer (Aquatic Life 115) negatively affect it? I obviously would not allow it to grow over the intake or return.

Doing general maintenance should not be too tough either because they should be able to stay out of water for some time and once retracted it is more or less a "low profile mat".
