I have a 29 gallon and going to make at sump/refugium. There are 4 baffles, so just estimate on measure i will need a 24" x 24" glass sheet and they will cut it to 4 baffles according to my dimensions. They want $28 for the sheet And $45 for hour labor, so about $70... Didnt know it was that expensive. Does this sound right? Using 1/4" glass.

Ive never used glass baffles but that doesn't seem too bad.

Acrylic, I buy the sheet and cut it myself. They say that glass doesnt bond to acrylic, and that true but if you do a thorough job with the silicone there usually isnt a problem. At least ive never had an issue.

+1, Id use acrylic, can take more of a beating before breaking, and easier to manage/trim if needed

Its really quite easy to cut, near wherever they have the acrylic they should have a tool for cutting it. You just score it pretty deep and the break it over a surface and thats it.

If the baffles are going in a glass tank you want glass panels. The silicone will bond propery between the two and seal them in. But, in regards to your question...seems extremely high to me. I got three baffles cut at 10x11 5/8" or something like that. Pretty sure I paid like $16 with sanded edges. So, if I were you I'd call around.

I posted some of this in your "baffle width" thread as well.

Don't have a shop cut it. If the baffle thickness isn't more than 1/4", go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a $5 glass cutter and do it yourself. Cheaper and fun.

Check out my sump pics. I made it out of a 20 long and bout 3/32" thick glass at the local Home Depot and cut it to size. It took 10 minutes to cut all the pieces.
