$70 for glass sheet and cut?

    I agree... When I did my sump last year I bought 10" x 8" / another 10" x 8" / 2" x 6" / another 2" x 6" / and a 2" x 5" all for about $45 including labor.

    Highly agree with this. Acrylic will expand with temperature, and glass does not, therefore acrylic baffles could end up breaking the sides of a glass sump.

    The glass shop could be charging you for polishing or whatnot. Perhaps clarify that you just want a sheet of glass, no finishing.

    For reference, I just happened to get a quote from a local shop this morning w/same dimensions. 1/4" glass cut 24"x24", price was $17.

    Last year when I built my sump, I was in same boat. most of local shops, quoted around 50 - 60$. I went lowes and got everything under 15$. for thickness, I just stick two baffles using silicone, it looks hard but it works.
