Hello all, I am currently cycling my 75 with x2 pieces of shrimp. I just wanted to get an idea of how high would be the best to allow the ammonia to spike. I'm in no big hurry so If it would be better to allow it to spike higher and cycle for longer then thats ok, but I probably wont start off with a very high bioload. Also, do you guys leave the shrimp in or do you take it out after a while?

After 3 days with the 2 shrimp in it looks like ammonia is around 1ppm, think I should add more/wait longer for it to spike.

I'm no sure what you mean, its gonna spike as high as it wants, then nitrites will spike, then nitrate. Do a water change, then wait 2 days and its cycled!

If I take the shrimp out then It might raise a little higher, or if I add additional shrimp then it will probably go alot higher due to more break down in the tank. I'm just wondering what level I am shooting for.

I just cycled my 90 gallon 2 months ago and the ammonia went to 2.5 PPM I used the dr tims one and only and was fully done cycling in 7 days I only had 2 pieces of LR and the rest was dry rock, now its starting to get a good coat of algae on it now. I left the shrimp in for about 9 days.
