I have my pump running at half capacity, due to the slots in the overflow, i think the 1" stand pipe that flows into 2" pvc will take the flow, but the water can't get there. Shall I make the slots bigger or what is the proper approach? Thanks

how big is your pump? Max for the 1" bulkhead is about 600 gph it won't ever go more than that even with your 2" plumbing

I don't understand what you mean by "but the water can't get there". Got a pic of tank/overflow?

The pump is a Blue Line 100, which i bought because my sump is in the basement and I suppose it's 15 ft vertical and 30 ft horizontal, I'm running 1" pvc back to the tank. What I meant by (the water can't get there) is if i open the valve after the pump all the way the tank will fill faster than the water can move through the slots to theoverflow...i'll have to get a pic tonight. I have no idea what size hole is drilled in the tank whatever standard is, can i put a 1.5" bulkhead and standpipe in it, anybody know without tearing it apart. Thanks

It is a 1" bulkhead. Any no you can't put a 1 1/2" bulkhead in now because you'd have to drill a bigger hole and the bottom is tempered now. About the only thing I think you can do is live with 500-600 gph turnover with your pump turned down which (500-600) is fine for a 75g. Or else use an additional hob syphon overflow.

Oh btw, I have heard of people modifying the oveflow slots... if it is the overflow slots and not just the 1" 600gph bulkhead limit -- i.e. if you're only getting 400 gph when you could be getting 600./ if this is the case you can use a dremel tool and widen the slots of overflow. Usually though the overflow is on the oceanics i think is meant to handle 600 as much as the bulkhead will but you can try and see if it makes a difference.

This guy did just what you are talking about I believe. This is straight from the dursostandpipe website.

Durso Standpipes » Mega-Flow Overflow Modification

there are other modifications I have seen in the past. There was someone on a site I saw that just simply made the holes larger, but it was a lot more work than the method above (it involved making a template).
