I am no expert at all, but that does look like a Stylophora pistillata to me. Or I suppose maybe it does look more like a Saltwater Aquarium Corals for Marine Reef Aquariums: Orange Guttatus Birdsnest Coral - Aquacultured CCGC 30 Day

Just Birdsnest. Some might call it a Green Birdsnest.

 

do they normally grow as fast as the other birdsnests?

 

Yes I would say as far as SPS they are fast growers if all parameters and lighting are in line. A relatively easy SPS.

It will probably out grow that plug next to it.

 

Was checking out the tank this evening and it seems that one of my millies has a couple of dead tips. Not really sure why. Its a dead area, not new growth. Should I cut the dead ends off or just leave them alone?

Burnt or dead tips are usually ALK swings.

 

It probably was an alk swing. Ill post up a pic tonight or tomorrow.
