    I guess what I wanted to know was generally. If an sps gets burned tips and has some dead tissue do you leave them alone or cut away the affected area?

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    I leave them alone unless they start to grow algae on them and it depends on the extent of the damage.

    Sometimes what looks like a dead tip though is new growth, I have been fooled before.

    So I was doing a water change this morning and noticed that there is some dead area at the base of my green digitata. Parameters are all fine and the only thing I can think is that when I was killing some aptasia earlier in the week maybe some aptasia x got on it accidentally.

    So what should I do? Will the area grow back sorta like how monticaps do if they are damaged? Or is the thing going to stn like an acro and be dead in an hour?

    Heres a pic. Its the white area at the base of the coral.
