I just got 2 Koralia Evolution 1050 to replace my Koralia 1s that seem to have lost their umph. I also have 2 Evolution 750 on the way. My return pump runs at about 270gph and I am using a Nano 240gph to balance out the return since the return it is on the side of the tank. So right now I have about 35 times flow. My LPS and softies are happy with the flow. I am just trying to get the SPS happy; some of them seem to be bleaching due to flow not matching light output.

Would you add in the 750s and raise the flow to 55 times flow? Or anything in between?

    Thanks for the help.

I would add one of the 750's and see how your corals respond. you can always add the other one if you find you need it.

My experience with a reef containing mostly SPS , but that had LPS until flow increased made them reluctant to open fully

I had about 45 x volume per hour in flow when it was a predominent softie tank
and this was split between 4 single wavemaker/ power heads all at 800 gph so never had to much in any one direction - everything seemed happy

when I started increasing the number of SPS and reducing the softies - I swapped 2 of the Power heads out for larger models 1500 gph and replaced 1 on each side and left the other 2 800 gph ones in place also - the LPS where fine at this stage as they where at sand level (at this time I was around 65 x tank volume per hour)

eventually I replaced the final 2 small wavemakers with another pair of 1500 gph models
which gave me turnover of around 85 x per hour and at this stage although the SPS where happy the LPS where cowering

Thanks Steve, this goes a long way to easing my mind on adding the pumps.
