Now you're just being defeatist! :)

You've been taking the right steps. First you got your wife to agree to the 75. The move to the 90 is easy since it's the same foot print - she can't disagree there. The 90 is a much better viewing tank because of its height. No comparison.

Now... your REAL goal needs to be a 120. It is the perfect sized tank. Here's why:

    - It is the right size such that a single 35 gallon Rubbermaid trash can can handle your water change needs.

    - The dimensions are just... I don't know... right. It really is a good looking tank.

    - You will find yourself loving the extra front-back room for aquascaping. A 90 can be a little tough to aquascape close to the top unless you use some supports/epoxy/rods.

    - At 4' long it is the most common tank length. Easy to find fixtures, etc. on Craigslist or other spots.

So get your wife to agree to the 90 then sit on it for a little while. Then float the idea of the 120...

"But honey, it's only six inches wider and everyone on 3Reef says it's a MUCH better tank for the fishies!"

Well I stopped at my local LFS tonight and looked at the 75 an 90 side by side. I always thought the 90 would have that "tall" look, but to the contrary it looked normal, very normal, the 75 on the other hand looked very short and squatty.

So I have made my decision to definitely go with the 90 gallon, I also had the opportunity to talk with some very educated and responsible reefers who have successfully kept a tang or tangs in a 90 gallon reef tank.

Thanks to everyone for their informative responses.

I haven't seen the 90 personally, but I just got a 75g yesterday. I will be looking out for your build thread!

Heck. RC, if your going to upgrade...make it worthwhile. At a 75g tank, I would upgrade to a 180...at least a 120. :)

To be completely honest, I never have liked standard 90G's. Now dont get me wrong, If I had to choose between the 75 or the 90 I would go with the 90 simply to have the extra volume. It comes down to personal taste, I much prefer a tank with a larger footprint/surface area than a taller tank. I just think the aquascape looks much better in a longer tank. If I had the money and space I would skip the 75 and the 90 and go straight to the 125. A 125 is what Im working up to right now as an upgrade for my 65g.

Anyways its your tank and im sure you will be very happy with whichever one you choose. Just thought I would add my $0.02. :)

Im gonna be bias and say a 90.

I really love the size and have no urge of going bigger or smaller.

Like mentioned the larger front glass is bigger for viewing. Main reason why I have a tank is to view everything. It reminds me of a 50" led tv that im looking at.

I started my wife on the concept of a 90 gallon corner six years ago. It took me a while, but look at what I've worked her up to :)

This seriously ranks as one of my great accomplishments :D

120g is a great size for scaping etc. I wouldn't even tell her. Just get it home and say " hunny, of course it's the 90g we agreed to...". Just keep your fingers crossed. She doesn't have to know how many gallons.... Hahaha

No matter what you guys say there is a huge difference between a 90 and a 125, the 6ft footprint is huge
