Got the lights hung today. I've been debating on building a canopy or just hanging the lights, and for now this will do. Turned out a lot better than expected! Using Aqua Mars China LED's. I'm usually against going with cheap stuff on my tanks and have always ran halides but figured I would try them out after so many great reviews... Well so far I love them! Eventually I'll try some sps and see how well they do, but for now they are perfect! image.jpg

A couple more photo's for Oryo and oldfishkeeper :p.

The brackets I used for the lights. I wanted a shelf to put items on so this worked out great until the canopy is built.

Goniopora "flower pot" catching some rays.

A couple little acans. I loved the colors of these but they just caught some brine shrimp so they look a little funny here

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I say forgo the canopy. The lights look just fine the way they area. All the too cool for school kids are doing it that way. Congrats on getting your first corals into the tank it's looking really good.

    Is the scape secured?

Agree with Corailline. I'm not into canopies over the tanks at all. I'll be following along on how those LED's work out. I'm in the market for new lighting to get my coral game back in action, but don't want to break the bank.

    edit: Are those 300w?

Coralline the scape feels very secure but I'm still debating changing it. Looking at it makes me feel a little uneasy  After looking at it all night and this morning I am starting to like the look of the lights! Might just keep them like this.

CBSurfrider they are 165 watts each. I'll keep the updates on them coming. Hopefully they turn out to be great, but I'm still waiting for coral growth.

    Thank you for the compliments!

I got the green light from a few different coral guys down here to order them. Gonna pic up three beginning of Feb. Good luck with your tank!
