This should work fine unless you get a very high bio-load:

Amazon.com: Eshopps PSK-100H Hang-On Protein Skimmer - up to 100 gal: Pet Supplies

They have in-sump models, but you would need to look at the dimensions to see if it would work for your situation.

Also the one Matt just reviewed may work for your application since it has such a small footprint:

Will it be a big difference if I get a hang on opposed to a in sump. Because couldn't I just hang it on to the sump?

The one Matt recommends calls for a 7-10 inch water level and I am not sure I will be able to achieve that in a 10 gallon. Or can sump levels be more then half way high on the tank?

No, just the in-sumps are cheaper.

Good point, and yes you can have the height higher, as long as you limit the water that can siphon from the main tank. This can be accomplished a few ways: have your returns high up in the tank, use a check valve, or drill a small siphon break hole just below the water level of your tank. Ideally, a combination of at least 2.

Ok sounds good. Even though that seems like an amazing skimmer I would like to go cheaper because I plan on spending a lot of money on lighting unless if you feel the skimmer is more important.

A skimmer is not something you want to skimp out on; however you can always upgrade and sell the one you buy as your bio-load increases.

I might just buy the lights this pay check and then the skimmer the next one. We will see. Because I do like the skimmer that Matt recommended. Would that be a good permanent skimmer?

    Invert stocking list:

Tricanda clam- 2 (one on each side of the tank) or do they move?
    Peppermint shrimp- 3 or 4
    Sandsifting star- 1
Anenome- whenever I find one that is already with a pair of occelaris clownfish. LFS regularly has these.

    Any more ideas for inverts?
