two new additions, a one spot foxface and red head salon fairy wrasse (solar wrasse for short) both the wrasses are doing great with eachother and there is no agression at all. the foxface was not to happy when he was first introduced into the tank but seems to be great today. all eating and getting along great

An update on year one of the tank, better late than never I guess.

well the tank is almost in shambles at this point. there is algae everywhere, the sand is more green than white and both wrasses and my shrimp died about 3 months ago. one jumped the other vanished (I assume jumped and was never recovered thanks to my cats) mind you this was because there was a 1 inch opening on my screen lids. the solar got caught on the screen and cooked. urchin just keeled over no clue as to why. shrimp disappeared no clue what happened.

I have in there now, 1 foxface, 2 clowns, 1 aiptasia eating file fish, whats left of the cuc, rock, sand, ALOT of aiiptasia and nothing else.

here is why it got so bad,

1.the t5 fixture has cheep china bulbs that are still in there from when I bought it.

    2. the tank was but on hold because I got onto the road patrol at work so it has been crazy with the extra training.

    3. wife started home daycare business at the same time, she took care of the tank while I was busy, but watching 5 kids and keeping the house up outweighed the tank.

    4. the r/o unit was not able to produce water fast enough so the wife and I used tap water. It was only done when the water was so low that the pump risked being burnt up due to no water but it doesn't take much.

    5. as you can imagine at this point it cant get worse, WRONG!! aiptasia every where, over 500 and counting.

    6. just last weekend the aqua lifter keeping siphon on the overflow failed, both me and the misses were out of town for the day causing 20+ gallons of SW to spill out on the floor, luckily the power strips and outlets had drip loops.

So all that being the case I have learned a few things, overflow box will be replaced with pre drilled tank, lights are going to led for ease of use, aiptasia will die, and I have to make time.

just venting a bit will post pics at some point to try and document the success or failure of this project.
