Alright guys and gals I have an empty 75 gallon sitting in my basement. I have started to gather things for the build, I won't start the build till this summer.
I have a heater, hob filter (extra one), powerhead, and some extra sand.
What should I do with it? I have a ten gallon reef, so I would rater not start another one and plus the cost of lights.
What fish should I get? Trigger come to my mind.

For a smaller tank (75g), the dwarf lion has to be my all-time-favorite.

THIS SUMMER!!!???!!! I wouldn't be able to wait until TOMORROW. You are one patient individual.

Lion Sounds awesome, but I think I would be scared to put my hand in the tank. ha

Yeah, I gotta get moved and stuff before I get it setup. haha O believe me I have been thinking about it nonstop. I have had this tank since August. My 10 gal reef keeps me sane. ha I like to do it right in the beginning, so I take it super slow.

There really isn't much to be afraid of with the lion. I have had about a dozen of them, and have never been "hit." You just have to be aware of where the gal is before inserting hands.

Literally, I have been called "OCD boy." I would not be able to stand the long wait. HA!

My most frequent statement the last few years:

...No honey, the fishtank is not more important than you...

hahahaha I bought my girlfriend a tank and now she addicted. She was the one that came up with the idea of a new 75. I am super lucky to live with another "addict."

Ok cool. I think a nice Lion sounds awesome. Could you put one with a trigger? ha I love the look of triggers.

Yes, you are the lucky one. My wife actually got me started. She wanted it, I really didn't. Now, she wants nothing to do with it. UGH.

She really is patient with me, though. She lets me do whatever I want with it. And trust me, it has been ridiculous at times.

I have had lions (Volitan) in with a Niger and a Huma Huma. I have heard that some of the more aggressive triggers could nip at the fins of a lion. I don't ever keep aggressive species, though. So, I have never personally seen it.

Sounds like your a lucky one too. ha

huma huma is what I want, so that sounds perfect to me. I was thinking of starting then really small. Is this bad? I heard that lions will try to eat anything that can fit in their mouth.

I am a lucky one. I have a good wife.

I prefer to get fish when they are smaller. I see no issue with this at all, provided they are well-chosen/healthy/good eaters.

I believe it would be next to impossible for a dwarf to get a Huma Huma in its mouth. I can't recall ever having seen a Huma Huma that small.

I have had mated Oc. Clowns (one orange pair for a while, one black pair for a while) in tanks with dwarf lions. Papa(s) can stay pretty small, which is certainly always a risk. Fortunately, neither of the dwarf lions I had ever ate anything they weren't supposed to (except two peppermint shrimps...OOPS! MY FAULT!). They even lived with cleaner shrimps for a long time (which is why I thought the peppermints might be okay...they weren't). Otherwise, I have had very good luck with the dwarf lions.

The Volitan lions, different story. I watched one my blue damsels get eaten one time (not fun). But, I feel the Volitan lions need a pretty big tank (240g or better, although I am sure many will argue with me here), so, I steer clear of them for the moment.

Anytime. I am really glad we could talk.

My only advice on the lion, and it is critical...Make sure you get one that is eating...And will eat something dead (shelled cockel can be hard to find, but they seem to love it, and seems to be pretty good for them). They are dirt cheap, and fairly common, so finding one that is suitable shouldn't be a big issue.

I am not sure I have any advice on the third fish. Fish, like mushrooms (my coral of choice), should be admired by the owner. So, if you have questions about any, I might have some insight. Other than that, you should just find one you really like.

It just sucks that I now have to wait 6 months to find out how this turns out!!!!!!!!!
