    The tank:

75 gallon FOWLR - 20-25lbs live sand, 80 lbs live rock, 30 gal. sump with skimmer and refugium zone that has 20+ lbs of live rock and sand, 500GPH push from the sump; Fluval G3 (carbon, etc.), two flow pumps (300 gph and 1050gph). Established for two years, then moved to me (w/ 20% of water) and "cycled" with existing and new live rock (Reef Rock). Currently houses two Ocellaris clowns and some turbo (I think) snails. I really never saw any spikes, even with the addition of the clowns. I have a RO/DI setup starting and I spend my days sitting 3 feet from the tank so I am planning on weekly water cycling to allow a slightly higher load.

    My Goal:

I kept a number of tanks (Malawi cichlid and fish-only SW) a decade ago, now back into it, but its been a long time. My goal is a tank that my kids (5 under 9) can enjoy, giving them a lot to see and learn about behavior, feeding, etc.

    The Choices:

What do you think of these choices for the tank (i have been reading just about every 75G tank thread). I know I am likely going to violate the inch/gallon rule, but I would like 2-6, I am not sure of how much of or whether 7-11 will work, comments appreciated.

    1. ocellaris clown pair (though I have a nano reef that I am debating moving them to once cycled).

    2. Flame Angel

    3. six line wrasse

    4. Lyretail Anthias - 1 male, two female (apparently an interesting school behavior)

    5. Firefish (more than one?)

    6. Zebra Moray Eel (I really have always wanted one)

    7. Niger Triggerfish

    8. One spot foxface

    9. Longnose butterfly

    10. Royal Gramma

    11. Scopas Tang

For cleanup the kids would love to include a starfish, shrimp and a cucumber - possible with these fish?

    Thanks so much.

That is WAY too many fish in a 75 gallon. Your going to have to narrow that list down probaly to half of what you have listed. I would also take the live rock out of the sump. Its not needed and it will just trap detritus and be a maintanence issue more than anything. You will want plenty of chateo to help with nitrates.

Also, I know nothing about eels but I'm prett sure people will tell you it needs a lot bigger tank.

Imo the scopas tang is too big for a 75 gallon. The niger triger probably shouldn't be kept with the butterfly or firefish, and also will eat your cuc. It takes a lot of work to put together a compatible stocking list, but there are a lot of ppl here that can give first hand advice to get you on the right track.

And you may not get very many replies with a thread title like that. That's not a good way to go about asking for advice. This forum is a nice helpful environment, let's keep it that way.

Insanespain - the thread title was a joke. I thought a harmless one. I don't get your point.

But I do get the comments about the tank. Just to be clear, I would like to have 2-6 and I am hoping something from 7-11.

the eel is too big for that tank( i think) however if im not wrong a snowflake eel, green wolf eel, black blue or white ribbon eel and leopard eel would be good swaps for the zebra...i believe it needs a tank <200 gallons

if going with an eel just be careful what you put in the tank with it considering it may eat it...so any fish that are added should be of a decent size compare to the eel and the eel should be well fed. other than that i dont see to much conflict between fish

    heres a fish compatibility chart:
