Thanks John. The fuge will have a sand capped mud DSB of 4". Love the DSB's.

Today I'll be drilling the tank for a 3/4" Loc line return and modifying the stand to accommodate the 40B.

The stand is DIY and the tank rests are 2X4's on edge that sit on top of 4x4's. The span between the 4x4's is roughly 44". It has a center brace that needs to come out.

I'm wondering if the 2X4 on edge bears weight and if by cutting the center brace out I'll need to put corner braces in at 45*?

Can we get a picture of the inside frame of the stand?

I built my stand with 2x4s and 2x6s with no brace in the middle. Its built like a tank with a 40" span b/w the legs.

Great job on the sump btw. It looks great.

Ya it looks like those are definitely holding weight. I wouldn't remove the center brace permanently.

Don't really have a choice. The 40B for the sump is 3" wider than the stand. I'm thinking the load will be taken by the 2X4's the tank sits on and absorbed by the 4X4's.

I could put 2 upright supports on either side of the sump which would shorten the span on the rear 2X4. ??

Mike the brace can be taken out. The 4x4's will bear the vast majority of the weight.

Thanks John. If anyone would know I knew it would be you.

I assumed the span was short enough but didn't want to assume 75 gallons on to floor with a bunch of broken glass. LOL

You were right. There might be a little sag but that it normal with any span. The 4x4's really make the difference. 2x4's on the end I would be worried about.
