A few weeks ago I almost had my first saltwater tank all setup and ready to go when... BAM! All my money went away on various spending. This meant tank construction came to a dead stop. Now that I can afford a fixture. I am considering buying the 48'' tek 8 bulb fixture. If anyone has any feed back on this fixture I would love to hear it.

The main topic I would like to discuss is 8 bulb combinations. I would like to hear everyones opinion on the perfect 8 bulb combination and why they like it. Maybe even show some pictures of your tank color to wow everyone.

Personally I think I would like a nice blue color in the tank but again, maybe your pictures will change my mind. SOO lets hear it everyone!

I have the same fixture, and my lighting is very blue - but I like that! I have 1 daylight bulb, 1 fiji purple, 3 special blue and 3 blue plus. I'm bad at working my camera to show the true lighting, but you can kind of get an idea.

I would say get 4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 GE 6500K, 1 UVL Actinic White, and 3 ATI Aquablue Special. This will give you lights to play with. Put a Blue Plus on each side of the GE.

This will give you a good blue hue. The GE will bring out green and yellows and the UVL red, pink and purple. The Blue Plus will pop your fluorescent colors. This has excellent PAR for coral health and growth.

    Welcome to 3reef.

I'd say 2 ATI Aquablue, 2 ATI Blue Plus, 2 UVL SuperActinic, 2 KZ Fiji Purple.

That will give you crazy colors and plenty of blue.

Ok I like the ideas. Sounds blue :) unfortunately the site that I am going to buy the fixture from is where I would like to buy the bulbs and it looks like they do not sell the ATI bulbs. So what are some bulbs that would be similar? I live in Canada so its hard to find sites that ship here.

Try here...it's a highly recommended site and I believe they ship to Canada.
