Yeah its dangerous and dumb, but some people don't use common sense. Here in Florida some people did it and paid the consequences.

I'll take severe weather over earthquakes anytime!

Been thru a couple big ones myself. Bad do-do...

You are talking about no power for months, not just days!

How about those famous California "brown outs?" - I forsee lots more of those to come in future. We are in a drought here in PNW, where allot of your power comes from. When we need it, you don't get it. ;D

Earthquakes only last for a couple of minutes - severe weather can last for days...weeks! Luckily, I don't live near any fault lines. When I lived in SF, though, got a few little shakes - kinda scarry. Haven't had a brown outs in 6 years. Oh, go ahead and keep your water, we'll just steal it from someone else! :tongue4: :biglaugh:

I rather have severe wheather for a couple days, rather than having an earthquake. Never been in one and dont plan to.

i lost power for a day so i put a 5 gallon bucket on the corner of my tank with a hole in it so it would slowly pour into the tank.i just kept refilling the bucket and things were all ok.all my stuff may have been ok anyway but i just wanted to be sure they had enough oxygen.

How about doing a dyi on a small DC operated inflation pump - like what you use for inflating air mattresses (connect plastic tubing, tyeing a rock on the end)...you could probably pump allot of air off one car battery...bet they only cost a few bucks at Wall Mart!

Or get a foot operated one and tie kid to it.
