    I can pick up an acrylic one with stand for 1500- is it a good deal and should I?

    IMO in most circumstances yes.

    I guess if money is no real object, why not.

    A used acrylic tank? Scratches?

    Assuming it's in good condition, the price is definitely fair.

    Here's the catch, I would have to have my brother pick it up and he isn't a reef guy. Still, seems like a pretty sweet deal

    i would be worried, scratches kill me! You may be saving a buck on the price of the tank, but at the cost of countless hours of sanding and refinishing the acrylic

    But you know the cost of the tank isnt as much as the cost of sumps, pumps, sand, rocks, stands, pipework, lights and skimmers.

    Oh and fish tooo :)
