    hey everyone.

i have decided to get a sump made up for a 8x2x2.
i am wondering where the hell do i start?
i dont want to stuff up so i want all the advise i can get...[IMG]
this is going to be a marine setup with liverock and fish only.

    some questions i have are:

what size hole should i get drilled in my tank for the overflow to take water from my tank to the sump?
Should this hole be drilled in the bottom of the tank? and what size should the outlet pipe for water to go from the tank to the sump?
what size sump should i use?
how many compartments should i have in the sump?
and finnaly what size power head will i use to pump the water back to the tank?

here is a pic of my 8x2x2 and below is where i will be placing my sump:

I love that tank. The size and stand have soo many possibilties. For that size tank I would do at least a 55 gallon or maybe two with one used as a fuge and the other as the sump.

The size of the return depends on how big a pump your going to get. I would go at least 1.5 inches though. It will give you more wiggle room to upgrade pumps. I would also be carefull of getting that tank drilled. It looks kind of greenish right now and normally glass with a green tint is tempered which means no drilling. It could be my immagination and the contrast with the wall color though so have someone check it out there.

thanks mate i love it too.....

i want a pump a realy strong pump.....i dont know how strong!!!
is 3700lph to mutch or not enough? i wouldnt have a clue.....lol

i am looking at getting this pump for the return: Age of Aquariums - Laguna Max-Flo Power Jet 3500

i am only wanting 1 sump......a big one im thinking 4ftx2ftx18inch high

for the water to flow to my sump what size of a hole do i need? and what size fittings would i use?

    is this high enough?

also i am a little confused.....do i need only 1 hole in my tank or 2?

i thought i would only need 1 for the overflow to go into the sump? im not sure where i am going to place the inlet for water to go into the aquarium....? any ideas?

how many compatments should i have?
