Well I went to disney for nine days with my son and when I got back found out my air line from my skimmer had fallen off and the tanks was covered in alge worse then the outbreak I had a few months ago! I had someone housesitting and they told me that there was no algae only to come home to a nightmare!!!!!!!! wow I guess I have my work cut out for me! I dident lose anything my purple tip looks rough but the fish are still going strong! I wish he could have told me I asked him about it and got no man it looks sick! that tank is awesome and looks great! ya so anyway in batteling it now haha oh well he found a home for my 5 12in fresh water pacu so I guess something good happened out of it. Well Then again my 11 month old boxer also gox out and was gone for 2 days! lesson learned A. dont have a vacation because you cant relax! B. Dont trust anyone to watch your fish tank unless they are fellow hobbiest and C. Dont let your employees watch your house! haha lesson learned!

Im not sure what kind of problem you have exactly, but you may need to buy a UV filter. Luna

Ya So I knew he dident know much about gish tanks but the second day my dog broke away from him and then he over feeds the fish and somehow the air line is disconected from the protien skimmer and next thing I know the tank has a ton of algae in it! I have been batteling with algae and finaly got the problem figured out and starting to be corrected and pow! kicked in the pants! The sad part is he is an awesome employee I just should have found someone with experience with the tank and the dogs for that part! I guess long story short its a lesson learned!

I had the circuit breaker for my tank trip while I was gone for a week this summer so I feel your pain . I came home to a DISASTER almost nothing survived  good luck cleaning up .Maybe it is time to nuke the rock and get rid of the algae once and for all I just bit the bullet on that.
