So I am replacing my 30 gal sump/fuge with a 90 gal I can't decide where to put my 100 micron filter sock, the tank is going to split in 3 chambers first the fuge then the skimmer then the sump where the water level can change. I would like some opinions on this, so before the fuge, before the, skimmer or lastly before the sump.

    thanks in advance!

Well, with that setup I would presume you are going to have a split in the plumbing. One part going to the fuge and the other into the middle chamber. That's where I would put the sock. The input to the middle chamber. Also, when you order again, I would get the 200 micron variety. Many coral foods (Oyster Feast for example) contain food 2 to 200 mircons in size. Just a heads up.......

Some folk I have seen use socks in their setup. I'm not trying to open that can of worms, but I like "low maintenance". I used to filter heavily, but when I made my fuge, figured what is the point.

Filtering the fuge would keep a lot of detritus from building up in the fuge. Putting it after would seem like a waste. Everything has already passed through he fuge, the skimmer is going to cleanm everything, including some of the critters from the fuge. After the skimmer would provide even less usefullness.

If you are splitting your return like Pharmer mentioned, that would be a bit mre benificial. I don't run any filter of any kind. Split my return to the fuge and the skimmer. I keep my tank clean and feed apropriately and don't have any problems with detrius build up. Corals are all happy.
