I got a question guys. My offer on a house got approved and I should be closing sometime next month. Dining room in the house has a built into the wall entertainment center. I have no use for it for it as a tv area and wanted to place an aquarium there. Right now I have a 65g but thought a 90g would be perfect there. The main opening dimensions are 63 1/2 L x 59 H x 32 D (inch).
A 90g would be 53 inches high with a stand. Do you think 6 inch room would be enough for cleaning, water changes and feeding? Or am I restricting my self too much and I should look for a costume stand instead? I have no picture of the area :( .

PS: The "shelves" look look like they are part of the wall, so its not just a cheap wood looking entertainment center, rather an extension of the wall so to speak.

Might be tight. Could you get a pic of the space?

IMO, 6" would be way too tight. Can you just cut down the stand or the area where it's going to go?

I have my tank in the same spot. a built in entertainment center used for a tank instead. the problem with mine is since it wasnt built for a tank there is no place for a sump/fuge area. Would this be an issue with your setup?

sounds awesome idea, just make sure that area can support the tanks weight.

All good points guys. I did not think about live rock going in there... Light would fit though. The hole where the tank would go actually starts from the floor so there is no weight support issue. So my only option right now is to go with a 75 gallon or to have a costume made stand. Sump would still have to go under the stand.
Sorry no pictures for few weeks, I dont close on the house untill next month ;(
Thats a good thing I guess, will give me time to figure out the stand situmavation.

Has any one heard of a 90 gallon metal stand? Because that would be my ultimate solution and I would cover it up with wood and blend it in into the entertainment center.

your gonna need 12" at a bare minimum, 16" would be even better.
