    I tested a few things yesterday. pH 8.3, ammonia .25ppm and nitrite 0.

    I'm surprised your ph is at 8.3, that's a good sign. Just make sure to keep putting in a few cubes of mysis every so often. You need something in there producing the ammonia needed to start the nitrogen cycle.
